Who We Are

We are a part of the Church of England www.churchofengland.org our national church led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby www.archbishopofcanterbury.org who also has the role of leading the worldwide Anglican Communion, and the Archbishop of York, Stephen Cottrell www.archbishopofyork.org.

The country is divided into dioceses, which function a bit like counties. We are the north westernmost point in Derby Diocese which is led by the Rt. Rev’d Libby Lane, the Bishop of Derby. Find out more about Derby Diocese on www.derby.anglican.org

The whole country is divided into parishes and everyone belongs to one. We are the Parish church covering Hadfield and Padfield, and are part of a larger group of Church of England churches which includes Charlesworth and Gamesley, Dinting and Glossop.

We describe ourselves as ‘an Evangelical family church’, which means that we value the Bible as the means through which God speaks to us today, and that we are a congregation where people of all ages can feel at home.

We are currently a ‘parish in vacancy’ as our vicar, Rev’d Felicity Walters, retired in April 2023. Other clergy in the area are supporting us as needed for continued Sunday and Wednesday services, as well as helping with weddings, funerals and baptisms. For any enquiries please contact the Church Wardens (mobile: 07598 164646‬).

On the team are two lay ministers (PTO): John Roberts and Vince Ryder.
